YouTube Timestamp & Chapter Generator
Adding chapters (timestamps) to your YouTube video description is one of the easiest ways to boost your SEO and viewer retention. Chapters break your video into sections, allowing viewers to skip to the parts they care about. More importantly, Google displays these chapters as "Key Moments" directly in search results, making your video take up more screen space.
Rules for YouTube Chapters
For chapters to work, you must follow these 3 rules:
- Start at 00:00: The first timestamp MUST be
00:00. - Minimum 3 Chapters: You need at least 3 timestamps listed in ascending order.
- Minimum Length: Each chapter must be at least 10 seconds long.
What is a "Specific Time Link"?
Sometimes you want to share a video but want it to start at a specific funny moment or tip. Our tool generates a link with the ?t= parameter. For example, youtu.be/videoID?t=120 will start the video exactly at 2 minutes (120 seconds).
Frequently Asked Questions
Why aren't my chapters showing up?
Make sure your first timestamp is exactly 00:00. Also, ensure you have at least 3 timestamps and they are in chronological order. Sometimes, having active copyright strikes can also disable chapters.
Does skipping parts hurt my channel?
No. While watch time is important, YouTube values "User Satisfaction" more. If a user finds exactly what they need quickly (thanks to chapters), they are more likely to like and subscribe.
